Columbia University Janitors Sue Anti-Israel Protesters Over Alleged Assault and Terror During Campus Occupation

Two janitors at Columbia University, MARIANO TORRES and LESTER WILSON, have filed a lawsuit against over 40 anti-Israel protesters following an alleged assault and occupation of a campus building in April 2024. The lawsuit, filed on Friday in the Southern District of New York, accuses the protesters of storming Hamilton Hall, a university building, and terrorizing the custodians during the takeover.

According to the lawsuit, the protesters, described as “occupiers,” forcibly entered Hamilton Hall on the night of April 29, 2024, and subjected TORRES and WILSONJAMES CARLSON, is accused of physically assaulting TORRES and threatening him with additional violence. However, CARLSON’s attorney, ROBERT GOTTLIEB, vehemently denied the allegations, stating that his client is of Jewish Armenian descent and opposes all forms of genocide.

The lawsuit further claims that the protesters’ actions were premeditated, involving the procurement of supplies for barricading the building and sustaining the occupiers. The activists allegedly wore masks and dark clothing to conceal their identities during the incident.

TORRES and WILSON reportedly suffered physical injuries and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as a result of the incident and have been unable to return to work. Their legal team, led by former Attorney General BILL BARR, emphasized that the lawsuit seeks to hold the perpetrators accountable. “They are seeking justice and sending a clear message that those who terrorize others will be held accountable under the law,” stated BARR.

Columbia University has yet to comment on the lawsuit.
