A 27-year-old man has been arrested in Utah following a high-speed freeway confrontation where he allegedly attempted to run a Tesla off the road in an act of deliberate road rage. The incident, described by authorities as dangerous and intentional, occurred on Interstate 80.
OSCAR FAYANI was apprehended by Utah Highway Patrol troopers on Friday morning after multiple 911 callers reported a gold sedan driving recklessly and engaging in road rage with a black Tesla. According to an affidavit obtained by KSL.com, witnesses claimed the sedan was weaving through lanes, tailgating, blocking other vehicles, and reaching speeds of up to 120 mph.
One driver reportedly accelerated to 95 mph to escape the aggressive behavior. The Tesla driver informed troopers that the gold sedan intentionally rammed his car and continued to follow him even after he exited the freeway. Upon re-entering I-80 minutes later, the Tesla driver said the sedan was waiting and attempted to push him off the road again.
Troopers located and stopped the suspect’s vehicle near the Great Saltair. During the arrest, it was discovered that FAYANI was driving on a revoked license and had two active out-of-area warrants. A search of the vehicle reportedly uncovered drug paraphernalia, a marijuana roller, and two small baggies containing a white powder that later tested positive for cocaine.
FAYANI was booked into the Tooele County Jail and is facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault with a potential road rage enhancement, reckless driving, driving on a revoked license, possession of drug paraphernalia, and the outstanding warrants. His total bond has been set at $910.
This incident adds to a growing trend of hostility and vandalism directed at Tesla vehicles and dealerships. Tesla drivers have reported harassment at charging stations, while dealerships have experienced vandalism, graffiti, and even firebombing incidents across the U.S.
