Minneapolis Police Arrest Suspect in Mass Shooting That Left Three Dead, Two Injured

Minneapolis police have apprehended a suspect in connection with a mass shooting earlier this week that resulted in three fatalities and two injuries. The announcement was made by MINNEAPOLIS POLICE CHIEF BRIAN O’HARA during a Thursday night press conference. The suspect, identified as 34-year-old JAMES ORTLEY, was arrested following a violent 24-hour period in the city that included six separate shootings, leaving at least six others wounded.

Authorities are investigating whether some of these incidents are linked. Police emphasized that the Tuesday night shooting allegedly involving Ortley was not a random act. Investigators are also exploring the possibility of additional accomplices in the mass shooting.

The U.S. Marshals Service confirmed that Ortley was arrested around 3:30 p.m. local time on a warrant charging him with multiple counts of second-degree murder. Additionally, Ortley faces a federal warrant for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Online records reveal that Ortley was previously arrested in February on suspicion of involvement in a violent robbery spree in Minneapolis. Despite being held for two days, he was released without charges at that time.

The arrest marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the recent surge of violence in the city. Authorities continue to urge anyone with information to come forward.
